Hollywood Stars Don’t Smoke While Walking Oscar’s Red Carpet: Why Do They Smoke On Screen?

The Academy Awards (Oscars) will be telecast just a few days from now. The week of glitter and glam leading up to the show-stopping Sunday is primetime to address smoking in movies and its effects on our kids. That’s why The Mercy Community has joined Trinity Health’s Advocacy, Shareholder Advocacy and Community Health and Wellbeing teams to launch  Smoke Free Movies Week of Action,

The Mercy Community will hold the Seventeenth Annual Circle of Mercy Golf Outing Monday, June 12, 2017 at Hartford Golf Club in West Hartford. The day will begin at 10:00 a.m. with registration and practice; golfers and luncheon sponsors will be invited to a buffet lunch on the Club patio at 11:00 a.m. The shotgun start for this scramble format tournament will take place at 12:15 p.m.

Monday, December 12 is Foundation Day:  the 185th anniversary of Catherine McAuley’s founding of the Sisters of Mercy in Dublin, Ireland.  We will celebrate with a Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. in The Archbishop John F. Whealon Chapel of Our Lady of Mercy on the third floor of Saint Mary Home.  At 2:30 p.m. on Foundation Day, we will officially close the “Year of Mercy” with a very special service in The Maximilian E. and Marion O.

Through December 2016, individuals and families seeking support as they care for loved ones living with Alzheimer’s may call 860.570.8453 to speak with Ellen Sanders-Nirenstein, director of Community Health & Well Being. Ellen will be conducting individual counseling sessions throughout this month. On January 2, she will post the schedule for 2017 Family Caregiver Support Group meetings to be held at Saint Mary Home.
