Actress and playwright Robbie McCauley will perform excerpts of her Obie Award-winning play “Sugar” on Wednesday, March 23 at 2:00 p.m. in The McAuley Auditorium. “Sugar,” an autobiographical show, cracks open the silence about the diabetes epidemic in the United States which affects approximately 20% of adult African Americans. Her performance portrays the challenges faced by those who are living with diabetes. As McCauley puts it, “sugar is complicated. It gives you energy and can eat you up from the inside out.”
The performance is free and open to the public. For more information, contact The McAuley’s Resident Services Coordinator Joke Trzaskos, LCSW at 860.920.6313 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
