Mercy Volunteering

“Mercy” doesn’t stop at the borders of our campus in West Hartford. The colleagues, residents, and clients of The Mercy Community are engaged in year-round initiatives to better the world it is part of and the people who need its service. Beneficiaries of our service work include:

  • The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America
  • The Alzheimer’s Association, Connecticut Chapter
  • Lions Club
  • Mart’s House
  • Mercy Housing & Shelter’s St. Elizabeth House
  • The Salvation Army of Greater Hartford
  • The West Hartford Food Pantry

In turn, our community is grateful for the support of a dedicated cadre of volunteers. From high school and college students to retirees and so many others, we are very fortunate to attract a diverse group of people who are interested in reading to, conversing with, and educating our residents and clients. We have friends who stop by with rescue greyhounds and other therapy dogs, friends who engage our residents in games and lectures, and friends who transport residents to religious services.
